Ronald James “Booker” Moen, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2022.
A celebration of life will be held at T-Bones Bar & Grill (400 N. Central Avenue in Marshfield, Wisconsin) on July 30, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cards or flowers may be sent to his daughter: Lisa Berg, 514 W. Bodgett, Marshfield, WI 54449.
Ronald was born on Aug. 7, 1933, and was united in marriage to the love of his life, Audrey Marie Stuebs.
He was a member of the Marshfield Elks Lodge #665 for 53 years and enjoyed golfing with his buddies, wife, son Cory, and daughter Lisa; and also enjoyed drinks and food at the Elks; and especially enjoyed inventing things – like a million things! Those who knew “Booker Moen” best, know all too well about his journey through life.
Ron and his wife, Audrey, opened Marshfield’s first meal delivery and catering business in 1966. In 1968, Ron teamed with Marshfield Community of Aging to create the first Meals on Wheels program, which was later taken over by Saint Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.
In 1976, Ron opened the first submarine sandwich shop; in 1982, a pizza restaurant that was the first to deliver pizzas, burgers, subs, fish fries, and many other items Booker invented – that is now owned by Scott Berg, who purchased the business from Ron and Audrey (now called Scotty’s Pizza & Chicken). Starting the following year, Ron began the first business to reprint photos onto t-shirts and other products, such as mouse pads, coffee mugs, hats, you name it. He also operated several other creative enterprises. Ron brought innovative ideas, new services, and many new jobs to Marshfield.
In 2006, for the first time, the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented its Edison Award (an award that recognizes an outstanding commitment to innovation) to Ron for his multiple business ventures over the years – five of which were the first businesses of their type in Marshfield. Throughout the years, his number one priority has always been quality and service for his customers.
In April of 2000, he and Audrey sold Ron’s Chuckwagon Catering and Lunch Truck Service to his daughter, Lisa Berg, and her husband, Jeff Berg. In 2016, Ron retired all together, but never stopped trying to invent things – just at home.
Ron is lovingly survived by his daughter, Lisa Audrey Berg; and his only grandson, Brandon Cory Berg.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Marie Moen; and his son, Cory Ronald Moen.
There was only one Booker Moen, a Marshfield staple, a legend, a piece of Marshfield history that will never go untold!
