Ronald Miller Obituary

Ronald Charles Miller, 86 of Marshfield, passed away early Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield with visitation prior from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Military honors will be given at the church with a meal following. Burial will take place later with  immediate family at Brooklawn Cemetery in Marshfield.

Ron was born on August 9, 1939, the son of August and Malinda (Hildebrandt) Miller of Marshfield. He graduated in 1958 from Marshfield Senior High School. He graduated from UW Stout in 1962. He then joined the service for 4 years and was honorably discharged as a Naval officer, having served in the Vietnam War. He returned to Marshfield where he was employed as a teacher with the Marshfield School District while completing his master’s degree and transitioning into the role as a guidance counselor – where students most remember him by. His love of teaching and mentoring students was his life’s work for 33 years, until he retired in 1999. His passion for the schools and children continued as he then drove school bus for many years after, as well as his love for connecting with people while he drove the shuttle bus at Marshfield Clinic.

On September 25, 1971, Ron was united in marriage to Bonita “Bonnie” Wolcott at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Throughout Ron’s life, he enjoyed bowling, fishing at Lake of the Pines, and hunting white tail deer. In his most recent years, he remained very active in life and in the community, taking up classes at the YMCA, being a member of the Ukulele Club, socializing with others at the community center, and partaking in many bus trips with friends. Those that knew Ron best will miss his gentle spirit and warm nature and Ron’s love of talking with people.

Ron is survived by his children: Paul (Sheila) Miller of Marshfield and Ryan (Tracy) Miller of Omro; his step children: Sue Stromberg of Arizona and Shaun (Kaia) Cherney of Auburndale; his grandchildren: Courtney, Jordan, Madison, Paris, Phoenix, London; Reese, Wyatt, Mazie; Joshua, Nathan; Alyssa, Jenna, Ryder, Sawyer; and his 3 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his special friend Bernice Stark of Marshfield.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife: Bonnie Miller, his parents: August and Malinda Miller; as well as his siblings: Luella Regall, Audrey Rusch, and Gerald Miller.
