Sandra Hansen Obituary

Sandra Jean Hansen, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 19th, 2023, at Comforts of Home in River Falls, WI.

Sandra was born on April 10, 1947, in Marshfield to Robert and Jean (Martens) Michalski. She attended Columbus High School and after graduation, became a Certified Nursing Assistant. On April 16, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ronald J. Hansen, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.

Sandy started her working career as a CNA at the Marshfield Living Center and continued working there for over 30 years. She then continued her career in various roles at St. Joseph’s Hospital, including EKG tech, therapy assistant, medication assistant, and finally as a CNA in the oncology unit 7 North until her retirement in 2012. After retirement, she volunteered many hours at the House of the Dove and also worked in home healthcare. She cared deeply for her patients and was known for her kind and compassionate heart. Sandy made a lasting impact on many lives and was referred to by most as a “guardian angel.”

Sandy will also be remembered for her smile and infectious laugh. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, coworker, and friend. She was extremely proud of her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Sandy had a playful spirit and took a very active role in their lives. She will be forever missed!

During her free time, she enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening, walking, baking, and attending concerts. Sandy especially enjoyed listening to the music of Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, and The Beatles. She actively participated in the Relay for Life as she was a breast cancer survivor. She also loved watching the Milwaukee Bucks with her husband, Ron. (Giannis was her favorite!)

Sandy is survived by her daughters, Lori (Joe) Krawczyk of Hugo, MN, and Heidi (Don) Tempesta of Mount Pleasant. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sophie (Zack) Mitchell, Sam Krawczyk, Kylie Krawczyk, Alex Tempesta and Ava Tempesta. She is further survived by her brother, Robert Michalski of Gilbert, AZ; and her sister, Shari (Frank) Collas of Onalaska.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ron; and her parents, Robert and Jean Michalski.

A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway in Marshfield) on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 am with Chaplain Matt Milligan officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. The service will also be livestreamed at www.hansenschillingfuneralhome.com. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. In honor of Sandy's favorite colors, we encourage everyone to wear something white or pink to the celebration.

A special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Comforts of Home in River Falls, and to Moments Hospice for all they have done for our family and for their loving and compassionate care. May God bless all of you!
