Shirley A. Forbish, age 87, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died quietly on Friday evening, August 18, 2023, with her family at her side.
Shirley was born in York Township, Wisconsin, and grew up in Stratford, Wisconsin, graduating from Stratford High School. Prior to graduation, Shirley began her employment as a teller with Stratford State Bank. On February 25th, 1956, Shirley married the love of her life Tom, at First Presbyterian Church, Stratford, Wisconsin. They built their life together in Marshfield. Laughter and love kept their marriage strong for over 64 years. Shirley was active in the church, serving as secretary/financial secretary at First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield for 19 years.
Shirley devoted her life to her husband and children, standing with and supporting them in all their activities over the years. She loved time with family and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, gardening, baking, music, camping and travel. Shirley and her husband spent winters in Texas after retirement and made many friends while there that they always cherished. Her family, faith, and the church were the cornerstones of her life. She was a wonderful example to her children and family.
She is survived by her children, son, Mark (Angela), and daughter Jan (Scott) Miller. She was blessed with six wonderful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Shirley is further survived in death by her sister, Allene (Joyce) Trachte.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; and parents, Alfred and Aletha Grimm.
Services for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, Wisconsin, at 2:30 pm. Visitation is from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the funeral home Saturday prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to First Presbyterian Church (Marshfield, Wisconsin) or the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians at the Marshfield Clinic and Hospital, Jenerosity, Brookdale Senior Living, and the Center for Hospice Care. Their care and attention to our mother will never be forgotten.
