Born July 28, 1934 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Earnest “Jack” and Lillian (Bohlman) Bumgarner.
Shirley married Harold “Jim”, on September 5, 1954. She worked for Parker Pen in Janesville, WI. until her marriage to Jim. They then moved to Marshfield and then became a full-time housewife and loving mom who raised their six daughters. After raising their daughters, she enjoyed doing in home daycare.
Shirley was a member and past president of the East Side Women's Study Club and a volunteer for 17 years for "Home Delivered Meals" through St. Joseph's Hospital. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Bingo, watching old movies, an avid Cubs and Packers fan and especially enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's school and sporting events, along with traveling the world. One event, often a topic of discussion, was their memory of 9/11, since they had just landed in Japan. In 2018 Shirley and Jim enjoyed celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. She also was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
Shirley is lovingly survived by her six daughters: Rose Bolopue, Kathy (Bill) Churkey, Tammy (Barry) Ott, Linda, (Jon) Tremelling, Nancy Fredrickson, and Michelle Parmelee, (Caner Cakir); her grandchildren: Matt (Brenda), Becky, Haley (fiancé Luis), Amy, Mitch and Dane; as well as her great grandchildren: Mackensey and Cayden. She is further survived by her brother-in-law: Doyne (Jerelyn) Parmelee. She will be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents Jack and Lillian Bumgarner, sister-in-law Betty Wolfe, as well as her granddaughter Christine "Chrissy" Churkey.
A special thank you to the staff of Three Oaks Health Services who lovingly took care of Shirley for the past 3 years and Heartland Hospice Care for their compassion and family support.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy can do so to the Christine Churkey Memorial Fund at Faith Lutheran Church.
