Suzanne Marie (Graff) Burt

Suzanne Marie (Graff) Burt, age 80, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Marshfield, WI. She was surrounded by her loving children in her last moments.

A memorial service will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Laurie Brubaker Davis officiating. At the conclusion of the service, military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 54. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in the spring. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Sue was born on November 16, 1941, in Marshfield, WI to Verne and Marie (Spaulding) Graff.

Sue graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield, in 1959. After graduation she joined the U.S. Army and started her career in nursing. She was honorably discharged at the rank of SP4 in 1965, and has been a member of the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield for 53 years.

Upon returning home after her service, she got her LPN license at Practical Nursing school in Stevens Point, WI and was employed at Saint Joseph Hospital of Marshfield in the neonatal department until her retirement in 2000. During that time Sue also attended Mid State Technical College where she got her Associates Degree to become a Registered Nurse.

Sue married James H. Burt on July 28, 1973, in Marshfield, WI. They raised four wonderful children together John, Jody, James and Joelle.

She enjoyed camping with her family every summer at their camp in Rock Dam, and attended numerus fairs and festivals with her husband Jim.

Sue was a member of the Hub City Model Railroad Club in Marshfield, the Rock Dam Lake Association, and the Edgar Steam and Gas Engine Club.

Suzanne is survived by her children, Jody (Bruce) Baginski of Antigo, James (Hazel) Burt of Stratford and Joelle Burt (Thomas Lossman) of Marshfield, a sister Sandra Leal of North Las Vegas, Nevada, her sister-In-law Shirley Burt of Marshfield, a brother and sister-in-law Lee (Joyce) Burt of Marshfield, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim, her son John, her parents Verne and Marie Graff, brothers-in-law Robert and Donald (Alberta) Burt, and John Leal.
