Terry L. Stendel, 54, of Abbotsford, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 following complications from a stroke earlier in the month.
A memorial and burial will take place next summer at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton, WI, where he will rest with many family members and friends.
Terry was born on June 8, 1971 to Gary and Carol Stendel. He grew up in the Chili/Granton area and attended Nasonville Elementary and Marshfield Public Schools.
Right from the start Terry was faced with multiple medical issues that would follow him his entire life. So instead of working outside the home, Terry along with his dad farmed and helped out a few local farmers as well. Many summers were spent under the hot sun baling hay-his sisters jealous of the deep tan he would get so easily! He loved his cows-with him and his dad naming all of them. Terry also enjoyed working on tractor and car engines and fixed quite a few back in the day.
When he was a young child, the doctors told his parents he would not live past the age of 30. Well he showed them! He cheated death on multiple occasions- Terry truly was a medical marvel.
Terry is survived by his sisters, Amy (Mark) Vieth and Mary Stendel; nieces Samantha Brock and Heather Brock; great nieces Harper Rogers and Della Bredemann; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Carol Stendel; grandparents Mable Kallis, Frances and George Sternitzky, Christian and Helen Stendel; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Thank you to all family and friends that spoke to Terry on the phone over the years-talking on the phone was his lifeline and connection to others, especially since dad died.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Marshfield Medical Center, especially the staff on 6N; Abbotsford Healthcare Center-Bedrock; and Compassus Hospice for the loving and compassionate care he received.
