Thomas Schmidt Obituary

Thomas W. “Tom” Schmidt passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Marshfield Medical Center. Tom was a lifelong resident of Marshfield.

He was born on August 27, 1957, to Dorothy (Nikolai) and Fredrick Schmidt – the youngest of 11, being the second boy!

Tom attended Marshfield Schools. He married Sally Bores on October 3, 1980. Following his father’s trade, Tom was a meat cutter/butcher. His training was with his dad at Schmidt’s Processing Plant. After his dad sold the business, Tom worked at Kohler’s, Spencer IGA, Pick and Save, and most recently, Festival Foods.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sally; son, Fred; grandson, Alex; sisters, Bonnie Scheibe, Kathy Scheibe, Debbie (Paul) Boushack, and Renee (Doug) Anding. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; as well as Sally’s siblings, Kenny (Jean) Bores, Margie (Terry) Oppman, Betty Scheppler, Mary (Neil) Wright, and Judy (Rick Radtke) Bores.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Schmidt; sisters, Jeannie Watts, Judy Brown, Gerri Koran, Betty Fellenz, Barb Gutchie; brother, Richard; and his in-laws, Annie and Ray Bores.

Tom enjoyed having a cold beer, meeting up with friends to share stories – whether true or not! He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A celebration of Tom’s life will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 501 Sports Bar and Grill (501 South Washington Avenue in Marshfield, WI).
