Commonly known as Soddly of Shifty, Todd had a dream of driving truck from a young age as he watched brightly lit semis travel down Central Avenue from the upstairs window of Schirpke’s Bar.
In his early years Todd drove for Ed Brock and Edelweiss Cheese, his friend Gordy Reinwand helped him get his start with J&R Schugel of New Ulm, MN around 1985. About 2 years later, Shifty purchased his 1983 Peterbilt Cabover. He continued to drive for J&R and purchased his 1989 Peterbilt 379 new from Peterbilt of Wisconsin-Madison. He still talked about the impression Chuck Jorgensen made by shaking his hand that day. In 1995 Todd started his own authority, Red Hawk Transport in Marshfield. He drove his 1998 Peterbilt 379 3.2 million miles right up to his passing.
On November 14, 1992 at Saint John’s Catholic Church, Todd married Julie LeMahieu in Marshfield, WI. Together they had one son, Todd Jr. Thereafter they divorced.
