Wayne was born March 26, 1925, the son of Ted and Mae Rasmussen in Marshfield, WI. He graduated from Marshfield High School on May 27, 1943. Wayne entered the Army Air Corps on June 10, 1943 for training to become an Air Corps pilot, learning to fly the many planes the Air Corps had.
After military service was completed, he returned to civilian life. Wayne married Lillian Poppy on October 17, 1946. He then began his career working with sheet metal at Badger Fixtures. Wayne was on many committees as well as the Jaycees and won many awards for his work. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge No 665 and the Civil Air Patrol Band.
After retirement, Wayne ran for a spot on the board of the town of Lincoln (directly west of Marshfield, WI). He was elected to the board in 1985 and eventually became the chairman of the township, a position he held for 24 years. While in the chairman role, Wayne got everyone together to build a new town hall, a project he was very proud of.
His wife Lillian passed away on September 12, 2000. On September 22, 2003, Wayne married Charlotte Jackson in New Mexico. Charlotte passed away on October 5, 2015.
In his spare time, he built a model railroad in the basement of his home. It was a masterpiece and he loved working on it. When Wayne downsized and moved to Marshfield, he built a smaller version in the apartment he lived in. He especially loved when his son-in-law and daughter took him on a trip out West to see the Big Boy steam train.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Kathy Falconer of Marshfield, WI, granddaughters Becki (Vern) Hanish of Marshfield, WI and Heather (Joe) Eisner of Rib Lake, WI, grandson Jeff Falconer of Marshfield, great-grandchildren Chantell (Steve) Wibben, Brooke (Jade) Knowles, Joey (fiancé Cassidy) Eisner and Nicholas (Caitilin Ledin) Eisner, 11 great-great-grandchildren, brother Garth (Dolores) Rasmussen of Racine, WI, 3 sisters-in-law Marion Rasmussen, Marlene Rasmussen and Jan Rasmussen as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mae Rasmussen, wives Lillian Rasmussen and Charlotte Jackson, son LaMont Rasmussen, son-in-law Larry Falconer, brothers Douglas, Richard, Donovan, Allen and Neil and sisters Gloria and Charlotte
A special thank you to the staff at the Marshfield Health Services for the wonderful care they provided.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter Kathy Falconer, who helped care for him after Charlotte passed.
