William Wurl Obituary

William “Bill” Clarence Wurl, age 78, of the Town of Day, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, September 19th, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Church in Rozellville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s Church from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, preceding the funeral service. Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s following the funeral mass. Stratford memorial VFW Post 6352 will provide Military Honors.

Bill was born in the Town of Day to Clarence and Marie Wurl, and was raised on the family farm, a place that shaped his love of hard work and family values. He attended St. Andrew’s Parochial School and graduated from Stratford High School in 1965.

Bill began a lifelong career in the dairy industry on his graduation day, starting his 1st day of work at 8:00 AM and graduating high school at 8:00 PM. He dedicated over 35 years to Consolidated Badger, Morning Glory Farms, AMPI Morning Glory, and Foremost Farms. During his time at Foremost Farms, Bill served as a Shop Committeeman for Local 563. After retiring from Foremost Farms in 2001, he worked as a USDA Commodity Cheese and Butter Grader for 19 years, ultimately ending his career January 1st, 2021.

In addition to his career, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1966 to 1972, achieving the rank of Spec 4.

He will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, and devotion to his family. He was a true family man, devoted to the people he loved and always put them first. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was an avid gun collector. On Sundays, you could find him cheering for the Green Bay Packers or tuning in to NASCAR, always rooting for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt #3. He was also a man of faith, serving as an usher at St. Andrew’s Church, where he enjoyed being part of his parish community.

What set Bill apart was his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He had a natural gift for conversation that made people feel valued, whether he was talking with family, friends, or someone he had just met. Bill’s warmth and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Wurl; his daughter, Lisa (Duane) Schraeder; his son, Paul (Cindy) Wurl; as well as his siblings, Jerry Wurl, Mary Ann (Jerry) Mannigel, Tom (Linda) Wurl; and sister-in-law, Mary (Denis) Degenhardt. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Megan (Mark) Aschebrock, Amanda Schraeder, Tanille (Derek Bauer) Frankwick, Reid (Samantha) Gust, Kolton (Brittany) Wurl, Fahallahn (Greg) Belter.
