Lois Yvonne Hitchcock (Von), died at the age of 94 on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Safe Haven Senior Care in Marshfield, WI. A memorial service will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025. Visitation hour is from 10:00–11:00, prior to the service. She will be buried at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield.
Yvonne was born in LaPorte, Indiana, on September 11, 1931, to Harold Moorhouse and Lorena (Westacott) Moorhouse. Most of her years were spent in western New York, where she learned to serve others and to work hard. As a middle child of a preacher, she spent many hours participating in church activities. She rode her treasured bicycle to local farms to pick strawberries in the fields. And as a teenager, she worked as a nanny and later at a Sears store. She graduated from Lafayette High School in Buffalo and completed her formal education at Buffalo State Teachers College. On August 25,1951, she married her childhood sweetheart, Floyd. They spent nearly 73 years together until his death.
Yvonne taught kindergarten while her husband served in the Army during the Korean War. On weekends, she would drive several hours to be with Floyd when she could. Once Floyd was discharged, Yvonne was determined to help him finish his degree to become a veterinarian. She was a devoted mother to their three children, then Floyd’s long-time business partner at Newstead Animal Hospital near Akron, NY. She would field questions, monitor the schedule, and even assist with surgical procedures. Floyd knew she was invaluable to his success, and together they served their local community—often treating animals with little to no cost when the owner could not afford treatment.
After retiring, Yvonne and Floyd moved across the country to be nearer to their children and grandchildren in the Midwest. Yvonne was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother—always ready to rock a sick baby or play a game with a child, cheer at a sporting event or concert, or bake a pie for family get-togethers. She often was knitting a sweater or a hat, or sewing a quilt for a loved one’s birthday. She and Floyd would be seen riding bicycles together, walking the neighborhood, or just sitting out in the sunshine.
She was a long-standing member of Cornerstone Community Church where she and Floyd taught the toddler Sunday school for many years, always together and as a team. She was a faithful follower of Christ who served her loved ones and community.
Yvonne is survived by three children: Tom (Jeri) Hitchcock of Marshfield, Debbie Linville of Marshfield, and Lauri (David) Boldt of Verona, WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jason, Jonathan, Joel, Jeff, Lorena, Hannah, Julie, and Ben. She also lived to celebrate the births of seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda; and by her husband, Floyd.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Safe Haven Senior Care, the Heartland hospice team, and the House of the Dove Compassus team.
